LiSDA@ICBBE 2025

I attended the International Conference on Biomedical and Bioinformatics Engineering (ICBBE 2025) at the University of Tokyo. It was a great opportunity to connect with researchers from around the world and to learn about the newest developments in AI-driven healthcare.

The conference opened with a keynote talk by Professor Hesham Ali, who highlighted the expanding role of AI in biomarker discovery and next-generation healthcare. His vision of how emerging technologies can support earlier diagnosis and more personalised treatment aligned closely with my own research interests.

During the conference, I presented my paper titled:
“A Contrastive Pretraining Approach Using Siamese Networks to Enhance Cross-Site Generalisation in Depression Detection from fMRI.”
My work focuses on improving the generalisation of deep learning models across different hospitals and scanners, and on identifying more reliable brain biomarkers for depression using fMRI data.

My session was chaired by Dr. Siddhant Yadav from the Mayo Clinic, who also discussed how computational models can be translated into practical, clinically useful tools. His emphasis on moving from research to real-world application added helpful context to the session.

I’m honoured to share that I received the Best Presentation Award for my session, a motivating experience for the work ahead.
